Valéry Fradkov has not limited his professional interests to one narrow area. Over the years, he has been, sometimes simultaneously, an established NASA scientist, a university professor, a software architect, a Wall Street executive, and a psychotherapist in private practice. Though it may look like Valéry has gone through many dramatic changes of career, in many ways he has not. In all his occupations, he saw his goal as identifying a problem, analyzing it, finding a solution for it, and dicovering a way to explain it to others. In this respect, physics, software development, management, and psychology are quite similar. In fact, experience in one area is a great asset in the others. In his private practice, Dr. Fradkov treats depression, anxiety, fears, stress-related issues, excessive anger, and poor impulse control. He works with people suffering from low self-esteem, shyness, and social anxiety. He also consults on family and parenting problems and on the distinct issues of gifted adolescents and adults. |
Since no school of psychotherapy can work in all situations, Dr. Fradkov borrows ideas and techniques from various therapeutic approaches depending on his clients' needs. His many professions and diverse life experience helps him understand people from various background. As an immigrant who lived and worked in many countries, he understands the particular psychological and cultural challenges faced by immigrants, expatriates, and TCKs. He works with individuals, couples, families and groups, both in the office and via face-to-face videoconferencing (e.g. Skype). He is bilingual, speaking English and Russian.
Dr. Fradkov earned his Masters of Social Work at Adelphi University (New York) and Doctorate in Science at the Russian Academy of Sciences (Moscow). He is a member of American Psycholoical Association (APA), International Association for Relationship Research (IARR), National Communication Association (NCA), American Group Psychotherapy Association (AGPA), International Society for Mental Health Online (ISMHO), National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC), American Telemedicine Association (ATA), NJ Business and Industry Association (NFBIA), and National Association of Social Workers (NASW).
